Bio
Steve served for 23 years in the army, starting life in telecommunications. After spending 4 years training recruits, Steve’s career direction changed and he became an army photographer.
Steve travelled the world, photographing the army, from training to frontline operations in Afghan. Steve also held the coveted spot of ceremonial photographer to HM The Queen and The Household Division in London, alongside many other high profile and interesting roles across defence.
Steve has always had a passion for cooking and since leaving the army, Steve has invested heavily in an outdoor kitchen, tonnes of cooking gear and has spent time further honing his skills.
Steve is a brand ambassador for Thuros, Smoke and Flame and BBQ Gourmet and can be seen, regularly, at Socal BBQ shop, either spending his wages or cooking at demos (Big Green Egg & Traeger Day).
If you’re at Sizzlefest later in the year, you’ll also see Steve cooking on the Big Green Egg stand for the second year!

Paul Atkinson

Hi, I’m Paul, the pitmaster behind Soall BBQ Catering. When I’m not serving up slow-smoked meats and signature sauces, I work full-time as a Paramedic—so you could say I’m no stranger to high-pressure situations!
BBQ has been a passion of mine for years, especially sweet flavor profiles with just the right amount of mild heat. I believe in food that brings people together, and nothing does that quite like tender brisket or juicy pulled pork fresh off the smoker.
Outside of work and the grill, I stay active with running, skiing, and weightlifting—anything that keeps me moving and motivated.

Hi I’m Kye. I joined the army in march 2024 as a chef I met Kieron at worthy down when he asked me to join his business Soall smoke & flame. I have a passion for cooking and enhancing flavours into my food. I love to make people happy and bring them all together with this amazing smoked food, besides cooking I love to play football and go running to keep myself fit and ready for anything that comes at me. My goal is to compete in a true Texas BBQ competition in the foreseeable future. Hope to see you all at the next event.

Hi, I’m Bel, the smile amongst the chaos! I joined Soall Smoke & Flame to meet new people, explore new foods and cultures, and to have a fun side-hustle away from my day job! My passion for food comes from my parents – I love seeing their cooking bringing the family together, and it’s what I look forward to seeing in this new venture! For work, I’m a Musician in the Army and enjoy staying active in my spare time with my netball team and local CrossFit club.

Kieron Soall

I started Soall Smoke and Flame to help showcase my passion in cooking. Prior to being a Chef I have served across the Emergency services where the stress of being a pre hospital clinician was overwhelming. The idea that at the end of a busy and stressful day there would be a fresh cooked meal would just bring me back to earth. I want to take that stress away from everyone by giving them wholesome food that reminds people of their happy place. I have a great team beside me that enhances my product and helps drive me forwards.
With my Wife Laura and my Best friend Paul beside me we will achieve great things, I aspire to take my business over to the USA and enter my team into a true Texas BBQ competition.
